Yangjiajie Scenic Zone
Yangjiajie’s east is connected with Zhangjiajie, its north is adjacent to Tianzi Mountain, with an area of 34km2, there are 3 esthetic areas of Xiangzhi Stream, Longquan Gorge and Baihou Valley as well as more than 200 sight spots.
Yangjiajie has the picturesque scenery: Xiangzhi Stream’s peak is high and in the sky, the gully is deep and the water is clear, the ancient path is in the setting sun, the birdcall and cicada chirping are like earthly paradise; the paratactic Longquan Gorge’s cliffs are a natural barrier, like the spectacular ancient city wall; Baihou Valley is the homeland of the monkeys and egrets , the in-line macaques appear and disappear between cliff and valley, the agminate egrets inhabit in the dark green tree branch and green leaf ....., there is “Cliff Vine King” of “China’s First Vine” praised by the people; exotic colored flowers ...
Tradition has it that the Yang warriors of Northern Song Dynasty camped at Tianzi Mountrain to encircle and annihilate Xiang King Emperor. Since then the war was protracted, Yang warriors increased gradually in number or quantity here, so this place became “Yangjiajie”. Now, Yangjiajie also holds “Yang's Family Genealogy” and Yang's Family ancestral grave in Ming and Qing Dynasties, so there are “Liulang Village”, “Qilang Village”, “Zongbao Village”, “Tianbo Mansion” and other place names.
